The Instructions!

This file will walk you through the basics of downloading and decompressing the files, installing the necessary programs in order to enjoy the media, and finally a section for the advanced user who may be interested in converting and burning the media onto CD-ROM and even recording the CD back to tape.

In the Beginning!

Make sure you have a compression utility, like WinZip or any comparable unzipping software  -  and Real Audio installed before you do anything.  They are BOTH linked to their appropriate sites at the bottom of the downloads page.

OK, you clicked on the download icon for a speaker tape.  The options are to open it or save it to disk.  I recommend saving the file to a location you are familiar with on your computer - i.e. the desktop.  Once you have downloaded the file you will notice it has a ".zip" extension on it.  If you don't see the ".zip" on it don't worry about it, but in order to open it you will need a program that unzips files as mentioned earlier.  After  you have "zip software" installed then double click on the file you downloaded from Recovery LinderWEB.  Chose "Extract" and extract  the contents (which will be a real media file - i.e. clancy_v1.rm) to your desktop.  Now you have a Real Audio file ready for play.  If you have installed Real Audio as mentioned earlier then just double click on the file and it will play on your computer.

Advanced users:

Download the Audio Conversion Suite linked at the bottom of the page.  It is a program containing all the necessary codec's (encoders and decoders) for converting a Real Audio file to a ".wav" file.  A ".wav" file is the necessary format for burning audio onto a CD-Rom.  Install the software.

NOW you will be able to
<right click> on the Real Audio file you downloaded earlier and chose "convert to"  from the regular windows dropdown menu.  Just click the "wave" option, and a new window will appear.  Chose a location for the new file to be placed.  I usually put it in the same location as the original Real Audio file.  Click the "CONVERT" button located in the lower right of the new window and it will begin converting the file.

It will take a while, usually as long as the tape would play, 30 or 40 plus minutes and it will say finished when done.  The conversion process is flawless, just look for the finished button in the lower right corner of the conversion window.  Once converted you will see a HUGE ".wav" file in the location you chose - probably with the same name as your Real Audio file.

Use your CD Writer software [I use Nero Burning ROM} to create an <AUDIO CD -
NOT  DATA CD> and burn the ".wav" file that was just created to that blank CD.  The limitations are normally 74 to 80 minutes of audio depending on the type of CD-Rom you are using - and the file size of your ".wav" has to be under 700mb.  Some of these files after the conversion process are too large to burn onto a single CD without further editing.  If you want to get into advanced audio editing I suggest going to the following sites or do a Google search for burning audio cds.

<http://www.nero.com> or <http://www.goldwave.com>

There you will find software and instructions on how to become a digital master if you want.  Once you have successfully created a CD you can always record it onto tape with any decent stereo.

YOU ONLY HAVE TO INSTALL ALL THESE PROGRAMS ONCE.  ONCE THEY ARE INSTALLED ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS -

1. DOWNLOAD THE SPEAKER TAPE FILE
2. RIGHT CLICK ON YOUR REAL AUDIO FILE AND CHOSE CONVERT TO WAVE
3. CHOSE A LOCATION TO SAVE THE FILE
4. USE CD BURNING SOFTWARE TO BURN THE CD

AND BOOM YOU WILL BE CREATING CD'S LEFT AND RIGHT.

OK!  I know it is a lot of information, but after you do it a couple times you will see how easy it is.  Any other questions may be sent to me by

Don't Drink!
